A group of people holds ropes attached to a ring with a ball resting on top. The goal is to carry the ball along a route from point A to point B without dropping it. The game builds communication, teamwork, and awareness of others.

Equipment

- a ring with attached ropes, each about 2-3 m long (the ropes do not have to be the same length) - a light ball (its size and weight change the difficulty) - two cones (start and finish) - obstacles that fit your space (chairs, stairs, doors, a table, branches)

How to Play

1. Set the start and the finish, and plan a route with obstacles. 2. Place the ball on the ring with the ropes at the start. 3. On the signal, each player takes the end of one rope, and together they lift the ring with the ball. 4. The group walks the route. Players hold the ropes only at the ends, and the ball must not fall. 5. If the ball falls, the group gets a penalty or has to start again.

Tips & Variations

- Tie a knot at the end of each rope. This shows clearly where to hold it. The farther from the ring a player holds the rope, the harder the game is, so you can set different distances for different players on purpose. - Players can pass the ropes to each other, or each player must hold the same rope for the whole game. - Start with a simple route. Once players get used to the game, add stairs, doors, hilly ground, thick bushes, or a passage for the ball under a car. Only the ball may pass through an obstacle, or the team members may pass too. - The ball also changes the difficulty. Try a lighter ball, a heavier ball, or a ball with a different diameter. - The instructor sets the difficulty level from 1 to 5, based on the group. Level 1: the ball may fall without a restart. Level 2: time is added for each fall. Level 3: after a fall, the group goes back to the previous obstacle. Level 4: after a fall, the group starts again from the beginning. Level 5: combine the game with another activity. - Extra limits to make the game harder: no talking, blindfolds (for all rope holders), hands kept close to the body, or using only the non-dominant hand. - With cones: there is a cone at the start and a cone at the finish. The game starts with the ball on the first cone, and at the finish the ball must be placed on the second cone. - Two groups meet in a narrow space and must avoid each other, or they swap rings or balls. - Golf course: set up several goals, set a time limit, and use balls of different weights. - Rule change during the game: when the group finds its rhythm, change the conditions (a different route, a new ban, a different ball) so the group has to work out a new strategy.
